A Ford worker died in what local police described as an “industrial accident” at the automaker’s transmission plant in Sharonville, Ohio, on March 16. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office identified the worker as 64-year-old Gregory Knopf.
According to the Enquirer, Knopf was performing “routine maintenance” on a press machine when it accidentally turned on and pinned him. First responders began life-saving efforts at the factory before transporting Knopf to a hospital, where he later died.
Ford did not respond to Manufacturing.net’s request for details about the machine or the specific maintenance being performed. Ford, OSHA and the coroner’s office will conduct an investigation.
